Overlapping Items

Overlapping Items

If you are in the Manager Console trying to edit a merchandise item and are given the "Overlapping Items" error, these are some steps you can take to resolve it.

Check Location In Screens Tab

- Be sure that multiple items do not have the same numbers in under "Loc" for ANY of the screens the item is on

- 99 is okay as this is the number set for auto sort, so multiple items having 99 on the same screen is not the cause of the error.

Check Inactive Items

- In the merchandise items list, check the box in the bottom right labeled 'Show In-Active'
- Any inactive items will show with an exclamation mark (!) at the beginning of the name.

- Select 'Edit' on the inactive item, navigate to the screens tab, and be sure the locations do not overlap with another active item.

- Under Screen On, make sure it is set to NONE and loc is set to 0. You can quickly navigate to the NONE screengroup by pressing the drop-down arrow and then the minus key (-)

- The following is how the screens tab should look for inactive items:

Alert
It is the best practice when making items inactive to ensure that the screens tab is cleared out in this manner (Screen on NONE, loc on 0)

Multiple Inactive Items: Bulk Edit

- If there are multiple inactive items that still have locations set up in the screens tab, you can use the bulk edit feature.

- Make sure 'Show In-Active' is still checked , and if you need to go through the ENTIRE menu, you can change the top right dropdown box to "NONE" to go through every menu item. Otherwise you can leave it on "Screen Groups"

- Select 'Bulk Edit'

- Set the 2 dropdowns to 'Screen Pos 1' and 'Screen Pos 2'

- You can quickly navigate through these by using the tab key, and you'll want to make sure ALL inactive items are set to 0.
- Do this and select 'save/next' until all inactive items are 0.

- Depending on the site and item, you may have to set the dropdowns in the bulk edit screen to Screen Pos 3, 4, etc. to ensure that there are no locations on any screens if there were previously multiple screens the item was on.

Color Groups

- Go to Merchandise > Color Groups

- Select a color group , then select 'Edit'

- Be sure that 'Auto Sort' is checked if you want new items with this color to auto sort. This can help to prevent the overlapping items error in the future.
