How to Determine if a Paper is Thermal
Identifying Thermal Paper:
When determining if a paper is thermal, scratching it with your fingernail is an effective method. Thermal paper is coated with a heat-sensitive chemical that reacts when scratched, generating heat and producing black marks on the surface. This chemical coating is designed to change color in response to heat, which is why scratching it with a fingernail causes visible marks. This characteristic makes thermal paper ideal for applications such as receipts and labels, where heat from a thermal printer activates the printing process without requiring ink.
