Overview
Refunds will allow money to be returned to a customer, typically as a recompense for poor service, product, or other error.
Refund for Same-Day Transaction
If you need to refund a payment for a transaction that was from the current business day, follow these steps:
- At a terminal, sign into your manager menu.
- In the bottom-left corner, select "Reopen Check"
- Find the check you need to refund and tap on it. (You can use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to help filter your search)
- The check will come up in an edit mode. Review the check to ensure this is the one you need to refund.
- After confirming this is the correct check, tap the button labeled "Verify Re-Open"
- Tap on the line item on your running check that is for the payment, it will appear in green lettering. You will be taken to the "Check Options" screen.
- Tap on "Void," then choose a reason.
- After the system finishes processing, the line item for the payment will show up in red.
- You can close out the rest of the check as needed. Most situations would result in needing to comp the rest of the items on the order, and then closing out to exact cash.
Note: Cash payments by default will be removed when a check is reopened. You will only need to pay back the customer and close out the check.
