Firewall Settings + Internet Options

Firewall Settings + Internet Options

If you are experiencing slow network speeds, constant interruptions, or even have no connection altogether - whether it be for terminals, credit card readers, etc. there are some adjustments you can make in firewall and internet settings to improve and / or secure connection.

Alert
Terminals do not need firewall protection as they are ran on an internal, secure network.
There are no additional security concerns or vulnerabilities created by turning off firewalls for the terminals themselves.

  1. Firewall Settings
- In the windows search bar, search 'firewall'
- Disable Firewall on public and private networks

- go to 'allow apps thru firewall' (control panel > windows firewall > allowed apps) and make sure everything with onePOS and uniterm are checked

2. Internet Options
- Go to internet options (go to search bar, type in 'internet options'), and in the advanced tab, make sure all TLS + SSLs are checked (except for the one that says experimental)

3. Network Options
- Right click the network icon in the bottom right corner

- Select ‘network settings’
- Select the menu on the left side ‘Ethernet’
- Select ‘Change Adapter Options’
- Right Click ‘Ethernet’, select ‘properties’
- Highlight the option “Internet Protocol v4 (TCP – ipv4)
- Click ‘properties’

- change DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.0.1

Sometimes changing the DNS can allow for better network communication.
