Button Position Numbering Convention

Button Position Numbering Convention

The button positions of buttons in a screengroup follow the numbering convention shown in the figure above. The number of a button’s position is derived from its column and its row. Thus position 52, or 5-2 (spoken “five two”) is the button at column 5, row 2.

On the Screens Tab of an item, the button location position number is shown in the “Loc” column just to the right of the Screen On column as shown below.

To choose a screen position for a button on the Screens Tab, you can click the “Disp” button to display a graphical representation of the screengroup and select an available position by clicking on it as shown below.

Button position using “Add Like” or “Add Bulk”

When you use the Add-Like feature to add an item you can also use the Disp button to allow selection of an available button location. If you do not select a button position when using Add-Like, the button you are adding will default to the next available position. When you see the Location number 99 this indicates the system will select the first available location for you. This works similarly when using Add-Bulk, except there is no Disp button, so you have to fill in the Location numbers without seeing the screen they are going on, or just allow them to be auto-placed by leaving the 99 in the Location field.
