How to Add Suggested Tips to Receipts

Adding suggested tip amounts to the bottom of a receipt is a setting configured independently by dining area in the Management Console. Follow the steps below to set up suggested tips.


Step 1: Configure Suggested Tip Rates

Before enabling the setting, you need to configure the suggested tip rates. These may be set by default, but it’s best to confirm with the customer which rates they prefer. You can choose up to three tip rates.

To set tip rates:
  1. Open Management Console.
  2. Navigate to:
    Setup → Revenue Source Setup → Dining Areas.
  3. Select the dining area you are configuring.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. In the Edit Dining Area menu, select the Receipts tab.
  6. Locate the fields labeled Suggested Tip Rates 1-3.
  7. Enter the preferred tip percentages.
    • Important: Use a decimal point (e.g., enter "18.00" for 18%).


Step 2: Enable Suggested Tip Settings

Next, you need to enable the correct settings to display suggested tips on receipts.

To enable tip settings:
  1. In the Edit Dining Area menu, select the Lookup button.
  2. Type "tip" in the search field.
  3. From the list of tip-related settings, ensure the following are enabled:
    ✅ Show Tip Rate Line
    ✅ Show Tip Rate Line CR
    ✅ Line Per Suggested Tip (Optional – stacks tip suggestions vertically for better readability)


Step 3: Save and Apply Settings

Once the settings are configured:

  1. Click Ok to apply changes.
  2. Repeat these steps for any other dining areas that require suggested tips on receipts.
